Bike Martha's Vineyard
Never been better…or more fun
The island has 44 magnificent miles of bike paths and trails. Instead of driving, take in the special sights by biking the "down-Island" route between the population centers — Vineyard Haven to Oak Bluffs to Edgartown and back (roughly 25 miles round trip). The route is mostly flat and relatively easy. Experienced riders can make the entire route or bike "up-Island" to Chilmark and Aquinnah. The terrain can be hilly and the roadway curvy.
For comprehensive bike information and a map, go to the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce.
By Ferry and Bike
Leave your car behind and take your bicycle aboard any island-bound ferry for a modest fee. When you arrive, take your bike along any Vineyard Transit Authority bus. Remember bike capacity is limited.
For an offbeat view of biking the Cape & Islands, visit Cape Cod Bike Trails. There are good photos of the main bike trails.
